Eligibility requirements

Format

Selected finalists for our Business Plan Competition will receive direct feedback from experienced judges and mentors, and have a chance to win prizes to advance their startups.

Finalists automatically receive a spot in the Startup Showcase as well.

  • Up to 12 teams present their current startup to a panel of experienced judges. Their registration fees will be waived!
  • Receive 1-on-1 mentorship from entrepreneurs and business leaders from MIT and Thailand
  • You do not need to register to apply to BPC!

Eligibility

  • Any early-stage startups currently seeking outside equity capital
  • Startups must have raised less than $250,000 USD from angel investors, venture capital, or other equity sources to be eligible

Prizes

  • First Place: $10,000 USD cash prize
  • Second Place: $2,000 USD cash prize
  • The winner and runner up will be matched with an MIT student and directly accepted to the final round of the MIT $100K Competition. More information here: mit100k.org
    • Travel and accommodations to participate in the MIT $100K Competition will be covered by MIT GSW.

MEiD facilitates continuation of care and prompt data access which is crucial especially in cases of emergent or unforeseen situations when communication can be very difficult. In addition our users also benefit from our healthcare and non-healthcare partners when using our products.

REBORN


Company Description
REBORN manufactures Bio-Reactor which selectively degrades other plastic sorts (impurities) into water-soluble materials, making the recycled plastic’s purity to 100%. This increases the price of recycled plastics to 80% compared to new resins.

Sanviato


Company Description
Sanviato is creating cost-effective technologies for simple, at-home assessment of patients’ blood coagulation status using a cellphone camera. Developed at MIT, our device is well-suited for low-resource settings and indicated for patients taking anticoagulation drugs in order to inform safe drug dosing. We are currently performing a clinical trial in Sagam, Kenya.

We spend 90% of time indoors and one faulty heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system can cost over $6,500/person/year in employee productivity losses.Most HVAC systems waste excessive amounts of energy and over 25% of HVAC systems have undiagnosed issues, which result costly failures. WeavAir harnesses advanced sensor technology to manage high value HVAC systems, save money & streamline operations. Sensor modules that attach to vents and filters to measure the air coming out of these systems. We combine sensor networks with predictive algorithms based on neural networks to prevent HVAC system failure and improve building occupant well-being.
