Michael Paik

Dr. Michael Paik is a Computer Scientist whose research focuses on usable security for technology in the developing world context. with specific interest in mobile money and healthcare delivery, in the belief that the perception of security must be paired with actual security practices in order to be effective in long-term, sustainable development. His interests also include the trust as distilled in social capital theory and its interplay with perceived security.

Michael has been involved with multiple efforts to foster entrepreneurship in the developing world, including serving as a mentor at the New York University Abu Dhabi Hackathon for three years and serving as the Technical Lead Instructor for MIT AITI (now Global Startup Labs) in Sri Lanka in 2011, the first incarnation to have produced sustained startups.

Michael is currently focused on commercializing technology to make low-cost tracking of pharmaceuticals ubiquitous in the developing world, and also currently serves as Director of Documentation at MongoDB, Inc.
