James Wilkinson
James is a British born entrepreneur currently developing a technology innovation, which drives new levels of cost efficiency in the event production industry. He is completing a final year of a Masters Degree in Product Design at the University of Leeds (UK), where he was recently awarded a Scholarship for Enterprise. James is the Director of Onesoundhire.com, a specialist audio company that he founded in 2013 which builds on his experience in the event industry. He has also held positions of direct responsibility at world-renowned events, including the London Olympic Games and Glastonbury Festivals.
James is passionate about disruptive innovation and products that have the power to influence the way businesses operate. The technology innovation that he is currently commercialising draws on his technical ability as an industrial designer and his experience of working in the event industry and marketing sectors.
In 2013 James completed an exchange program at the Queensland University of Technology, (Brisbane, Australia) whilst managing his UK business with three staff remotely. During this time he became particularly interested in marketing and web technology. During the process of enhancing his skills he unintentionally became the head of online marketing for one of Australia’s most popular water-sports centres, a role he now balances with his other ventures remotely from the UK whilst studying.
James has lived in five countries on four continents and has travelled extensively, as a result he has an extremely open minded outlook and a great sense of adventure. His vision is to develop his current ventures and take every opportunity that arises whilst encouraging other students to launch ventures whilst they study, via the creation of a new advice website.
