Francisca Castellanos

Francisca Alejandra Castellanos Avalos is an international student from Ecuador, who is currently studying International Affairs at Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Querétaro, México. She is part of the High Academic Performance Program for Latin American. Francisca Castellanos has been doing social projects since 2 years ago. She was the vice president of the Committee for Social Action and Citizenship at ITESM. Nowadays, she is the General Coordinator of “Microempresa Vida Activa”. It is a social microenterprise that promotes employment for adults with Down syndrome through the elaboration of amaranth products. The project won the Wal-Mart Women Empowerment competition in November 2014. Also, she was the “Microempresa Vida Activa” represent at Latin America Workshop held by Centro de Intercambio del Conocimiento (CIC) Viva Trust, which took place in November 2014 in San José, Costa Rica.
Hence, Francisca is part of Retos Internacionales, editorial group that promotes youth participation at national and international level through the magazine Fanzine. She is part of the editorial committee and the president of the student group on campus. Moreover, she worked for a year and a half at AIESEC, worldwide Non Governmental Organization (NGO), which has operations in 125 countries. In AIESEC, Francisca Castellanos was coordinator of social projects in the area of Incoming Exchanges of Global Community Development Program (IGCDP).
Besides, Francisca Castellanos has been an active member in society through undertaking several social projects, which generate economic and environmental impact. One of her main interests is to empower vulnerable groups on their own capabilities and skills to generate employment and social impact.
