Amy Gao
Ph.D Candidate, MIT

Amy is a PhD Candidate in the Mechanical Engineering department at MIT. She received her B.S. from Olin College of Engineering in 2010 and M.S. From MIT in 2013, both in Mechanical Engineering. She currently works in the Towing Tank Laboratory, where she studies sensing and control of underwater vehicles, particularly in highly dynamic environments. Her research interests include ocean robotics, bioinspired design, and nonlinear dynamics and control. Outside of research, Amy enjoys graphic design, cooking, and spending time outdoors. This is Amy’s second year on the GSW organizing team. Last year, she worked on the marketing team, and organized the Technological Innovations in Fashion and Cosmetics panel.
