Eleanor Watson
Founder and CEO, Poikos

NELL WATSON is an engineering technologist, inspirational speaker, and business leader. She is Founder & CEO of Poikos, the smartphone 3D body measurement company.

Poikos created a technology which ‘dematerialises’ the 3D body scanner, by providing accurate 3D scans of the body with only 2D camera hardware, such as that found within smartphones, or laptops. This may then be applied to a range of markets, such as fashion, mass customisation, and health.

Nell holds two patents for her body measurement technology, developed over three years. Born in Northern Ireland, she currently resides in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, since her company was selected to join the StartupBootcamp Accelerator in 2012.

Prior to Poikos, she was an editor for The Law Society in the UK, and co-founded a graffiti arts company. She first discovered her passion for inspiring others whilst lecturing in post-grad Computer Science. She branched out into Business subjects, and subsequently felt compelled to lead by example. This fuels her entrepreneurial vocation to this day.

In 2013 Nell was awarded a full scholarship to join 80 other students for Singularity University’s Graduate Studies Programme. This 10 week intellectual and entrepreneurial marathon covers the the latest emerging technologies, and teaches the power of exponential thinking. Students are called upon to find solutions for humanity’s greatest challenges, and then scale them over 10 years so that they may impact one billion people.

Nell’s answer to this is her GSP Team Project, called Scry. Nell aims to apply some of the advanced machine learning and image segmentation techniques in her repertoire, in order to provide automated ophthalmological analysis for developing nations.
