Anass AFILAL is a Master of Finance student at MIT and a Legatum Fellow. He holds a master’s degree in Economics and Applied Mathematics from Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. He worked at the World Bank in Washington D.C. where he conducted research on China’s urbanization and firms’ dynamics and co-authored a policy research paper or the subject. Prior to that, he had a short-term experience at HSBC Dubai in financial structuring. Anass is also an entrepreneur working on developing a business model for Africa, starting from Morocco, to convert agricultural waste into energy and fertilizers. His non-profit work in the Rif marked his first encounter with rural Morocco and triggered his entrepreneurial ambitions. He enjoys traveling and horse racing in the wild.
