Student, Ecole Supérieure d’Infotronique d’Haiti

Michel-Ange Dagrain is a third-year student in the field of computer Science at ESIH (Ecole Supérieure d’Infotronique d’Haiti) a private university in Haiti; She is the member of a group called Women’s Peer to Peer Network, the proof that women are capable to be heard through technology and to show how smart, creative and strong they are. From November 10th to 15th 2012, she was selected to represent her country at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha, Qatar. Established by Qatar Foundation in 2009, WISE is promoting collaboration in building the future of education. After her participation at this summit, with other Haitian Wise learners who participated before her, together they create an organization called ACTIVE (ACTION TOWARD INITIATIVES AND VOLUNTEERING FOR EDUCATION) which promotes voluntary work among students for community development. Michel-Ange dreams of integrating up-to-date technology into schools and Haiti’s public institutions, saving offices from piles of paperwork and lost data. To advance this mission, along with other friends who also want to use their skill in this way, she will implement an assembly industry that will provide affordable computers, tablets and other gadgets to students in Haiti. She will develop programs that can computerize public institutions and revive enterprises. This is a way to help technicians and professionals in computer science who are unemployed to get a job or to invest in their country. She would also like to create a house where Haitian children can be educated for free and learn how they should use their skills to save their Country from poverty.
